Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Sound Healing and a Sound Bath?

To keep it simple:

Essentially Sound Healing is the overall therapeutic practice of healing through the intentional use of sound and a Sound Bath is the mode by which Sound Healing is carried out.

Does Sound Healing really work or is it just some "hooplah mumbo jumbo"?

To keep it simple:

Yes. Sound Healing really works! Our body is made up of 55% to 75% of water and therefore, makes it an optimal conductor for sound. As sound vibrations travel through the body, they are able to activate our body's natural healing systems and restore balance.

What are some early Sound Healing influences?

To keep it simple:

Sound Healing is a natural, science-backed practice, not dependent on religion. It spans across many centuries and cultures. Early influences can be traced to Indigenous civilizations like the Aboriginal Australians and ancient Egyptians, as well as the mathematical sound theories of Pythagoras and the melodic tones of Tibet. These early influences help us to understand the profound effect sound has on the body and mind.

What is a Sound Healer?

To keep it simple:

A Sound Healer is someone who specializes in healing the mind, body and soul with the intentional use of vibrations and frequencies created by various instruments such as singing bowls, chimes, drums, gongs & tuning forks.

What should I expect during a Sound Bath?

To keep it simple:

You’ll typically lie down in a comfortable position while a Sound Healer plays various instruments, creating a soothing wave of vibrations to "bathe" your body and mind in resonant frequencies. The Sound Bath session is typically 60 minutes, but can vary as needed.

Do I have to lie down during a Sound Bath?

To keep it simple:

You are allowed to position yourself in whatever way feels most comfortable to you, whether sitting up, lying flat or reclined in a semi-upright position. While Sound Baths are typically more desirable when lying down, your body's positioning does not nullify the healing effects of vibrations and frequencies surrounding you.

What kind of response will I have during a Sound Bath?

To keep it simple:

Responses will be unique and vary by individual, but it is reasonable to experience deep relaxation, emotional release, physical sensations and even sleepiness as the body is in such a state of calm and relaxation. Some may experience a sense of detoxification which is the body’s natural way of releasing unwanted toxins and releasing energy that no longer serves you.

Why should I get a Sound Bath?

To keep it simple:

There are so many amazing benefits!

How should I prepare for my Sound Bath?

To keep it simple:

Consider the areas where you desire to have relief whether physically, mentally or emotionally and prepare yourself to be open to a high healing experience. Wear comfortable clothing. Be sure to hydrate with water and refrain from eating a full meal right before the session. If you must eat, keep it to a light healthy snack. Bring a bottle of water to hydrate after the session. Come with an open heart and mind!

How often should I have a Sound Bath?

To keep it simple:

As with any form of natural healing, consistency is key and yields the best results. Typically, individuals will benefit from 1 session per week. If an individual has some serious challenges that they want to overcome or is experiencing a traumatic life event, they may seek to have up to 2 sessions per week. Otherwise, the suggested frequency of sessions will vary depending on your individual needs.

Can pregnant women attend a Sound Bath?

To keep it simple:

Yes. There have been many beautiful healing moments that mommies have been able to share with their precious little ones inside their delicate womb. While sound baths are generally safe, it’s always best to check with a doctor or midwife before attending, especially if there are any pregnancy-related concerns. Also, a comfortable position is key, preferably lying on their side rather than their back after the first trimester.

Is there a Sound Bath etiquette?
